A Warning Sign 

Science has established that the Earth’s climate is changing due to increased emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases, combined with heat trapping surfaces in our cities. The average air and water temperatures are rising with 2011 Heat Domes making this year hottest year in recorded history already surpassing 2010. America’s Carbon footprint is exceeded only by China, which is four times population density.  The Cool America Plan urges the White House to take action now stimulate new jobs specifically targeting the reduction of Urban Heat Island affecting climate change. 

2012 SOLAR FLARES

 In 2012, the Sun is expected to enter into the peak of an 11-year cycle called “solar maximum”, which is projected to generate a much higher level of solar activity. Dr. Nicola Scafetti of Duke University indicates that “Earth’s short-term temperature anomalies and the solar flare intermittency are linked,” explaining that “any significant changes in solar activity should result in equivalent changes in the earth’s global temperature.” NASA is also indicating that expected increased solar flare activity may play into the trend of increasing heat, and electromagnetic activity disrupting the power grid.

With the majority of U.S. Citizens living within such urban zones, the threat to public health and impact on energy consumption makes taking immediate action to cool our cities through the use of solar reflective products a matter of national security. This is the focus and objective of the Cool America Plan.  One only needs to look at 2011 to see the pattern for 2012. During the Heat Domes power went down in many cities, and people died.  If you look at the map, the heat Domes were concentrated in the most densely populated areas of the country, and exactly where the most power usage occured.  Continued load on our power grid to cool our summers, considering the coming solar flares of 2012 is now a critical concern.  If we don't take within the next 12 months to reduce the load, it will result in many more blackouts,  more suffering and many more deaths in our cities.  

Urban Heat Island is man-made.  

The good news is, we can do something about it now

To correct our course before the summer of 2012

Under the “Climate Change Adaptation Plan” Secretary of Energy Chu stated "With a serious commitment to energy efficiency, widespread deployment of technologies we have, and an aggressive investment in science, we can dramatically reduce our carbon emissions and reinvigorate our economy at the same time. This is not only our opportunity; it is our responsibility to future generations."

Notice that the focus area of Heat Dome corresponds directly to most densely populated areas whose power grid has the greatest load.  Hot surface absorbing summer heat force the grid to overload resulting in blackouts in the same general areas.
